I am Arthur, King of the Britons. I seek the bravest and the finest knights in the land who will join me in my court at Camelot. You have proved yourself worthy. Will you join me?
Well, according to The Guardian, Hillary Clinton will be accepting the Secretary of State position within Obama's cabinet.
I must admit though, my first thought was a sigh of relief since it was swirling before the election that John Kerry was a potential choice.
But the Clinton selection is further proof that Obama is looking to solidify his dynasty and complete the Round Table.
And now on to scene 24. A smashing scene with some lovely acting...
I keep hearing that once it is official when Clinton has dropped out of the race that the Democratic Party will have to undergo a healing process. I also keep hearing that the easy way of doing this is for Obama to make Clinton the VP on the ticket.
But the way this campaign has gone on the left side of the aisle, you really have to sense the canyon that healing process will have to cross is wide. And as Novak reports, a VP nod just ain't going to happen:
Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.
The Democratic front-runner's wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party's nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility.
A footnote: Support is growing in Democratic ranks for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as vice president. He would bring to the ticket maturity (66 years old), experience (six terms in Congress) and moderation (rated "A" by the National Rifle Association). He is very popular in Ohio, a state Republicans must carry to elect a president.
So the question is going to be can the Democratic Party heal? My guess: Most likely. If McCain could heal the Republican Party -- my guess is that it will happen with the Democrats.
But if this holds true...
A sizable proportion of Democrats would vote for John McCain next November if he is matched against the candidate they do not support for the Democratic nomination. This is particularly true for Hillary Clinton supporters, more than a quarter of whom currently say they would vote for McCain if Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee.
...Obama has his work cut out for him. Or it is game, set, match for McCain.
Wow. This is big in my opinion.

What!? Politicians exaggerate? And lie? Holy crap!
I lived in Virginia most of my life and it is pretty interesting watching Democrats of the South waking up and seeing the Clintons for who they really are...
In campaigning for his wife last month on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, Clinton called Obama's opposition to the Iraq war "a fairy tale." Clinton suggested Obama had toned down his early anti-war fervor during his 2004 Senate campaign.
"Barack Obama is not a fairy tale. He is real," former Virginia Gov. L. Douglas Wilder told reporters at a Democratic fundraiser as the former president spent the day campaigning for Hillary Rodham Clinton in Richmond and three other Virginia cities.
The grandson of slaves, who was elected in 1989 in what was once the Confederate capital, endorsed Obama last month. Now Richmond's mayor, Wilder's comments still get the attention of the state's black voters, though his influence has waned since he left office 15 years ago.
I must say though that the way the Democratic nomination process is going -- I bet Clinton will be on the ticket no matter what... This could be very interesting.
McCain is trying to make amends with the Republicans. Clinton may have to do the same with Democrats.
How the Clinton family handles politics is so absurd sometimes. You can tell they care about the children, ehh?
Sydney Rieckhoff, a Cedar Rapids fourth grader and "kid reporter" for Scholastic News, has posed questions to seven Republican and Democratic presidential hopefuls as they've campaigned across Iowa this year. But when she approached the 27-year-old Chelsea after a campaign event Sunday, she got a different response.
"Do you think your dad would be a good 'first man' in the White House?" Sydney asked, but Chelsea brushed her question aside.
"I'm sorry, I don't talk to the press and that applies to you, unfortunately. Even though I think you're cute," Chelsea told the pint-sized journalist.
I guess when Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act supporting regime change and when he went with his little four day bombing campaign known as Operation Desert Fox, he wasn't seriously contemplating military options in removing Saddam Hussein. They were just for show. (And don't forget his continued support of the no fly zones during his presidential tenure.)
And let's not forget what Al Gore, his Vice President, had to say about Iraq when it was politically convenient to do so...
So hey, seeing a Clinton doing politically expedient things (like appeal to his base while stumping for his wife and say he didn't support the Iraq war from the beginning) shouldn't come as a surprise to any of us... The question is do you want somebody like that in the White House? I mean Hillary flip-flopped on her support for the war too... (But I guess to Bill it isn't a flip flop if you try to correct the history from the beginning of the position)...
Look at Rudy, at least he can admit to his mistakes...
HH: All right. Yesterday on this program, Governor Romney brought up Bernie Kerik. Fair game or below the belt?
RG: Of course, of course it’s fair game. It’s a mistake. I admit that it’s a mistake.
HH: Okay.
RG: I made a mistake. I should have checked him out much more carefully. Part of it came about because he had such excellent results as a corrections commissioner. He brought down violence in the New York City jails by 90%. There was a whole piece on 60 Minutes about it. And he brought down violence in New York City by 20-30%. And he was a hero on September 11, and one of the most decorated officers in New York City, in terms of as a police officer, saving other people’s lives. He had a whole aspect to his personal life that we didn’t know about. And it was my responsibility. We should have known about it, and not put him forward.
Choices are... politicians who can admit to their mistakes and politicians who can't. I prefer the former...
Good stuff.
Interesting article.
A GOP official said, “Hillary Clinton’s campaign hypocrisy continues to know no bounds. It is rather unbelievable that Clinton would listen in to conversations being conducted by political opponents, but refuse to allow our intelligence agencies to listen in to conversations being conducted by terrorists as they plot and plan to kill us. Team Clinton can expect to see and hear this over and over again over the course of the next year.”
I am sure the excuse is that habeas corpus wasn't violated for those evil conservative plotters who were under surveillance.
Romney - 1 for 1 - home run deep to center.
Hillary Clinton had a choice. She could stand with our troop commander in Iraq, or she could stand with the libelous left wing of her party. She chose the latter. The idea that she would be a credible commander-in-chief of our armed forces requires the willing suspension of disbelief.
