Would I Be Allowed to Make This Post in Iran?
Even after knowing what we know now, courtesy of history, Columbia would still have invited Hitler to speak/debate at their university.
We assume in this great world that every idea or point of view is worth debating. There are ideas that are rooted in illogic and fanaticism. To say now that Hitler would have been welcome at Columbia prior to WWII, even in 20/20 hindsight, is not only ludicrous, it shows that the left is completely out of touch with reality.
This just goes to show the logic of the left and their desire to give Ahmadinejad, the leader of a country that sponsors terrorism, a platform to speak.
Why do we go out of our way to grant a forum of free speech to those who do not consider it a right in their own country?
The world is upside down.

Actually until Hitler turned on his ally Stalin the hard left demanded that we stay out of that European war. I always got a good laugh at Barbara Streisand playing that commie in The Way We Were. Yes if the powers that be at Columbia had the same mindset in 1936, he might have been invited.
