They Say Music is an Insight to the Soul
So the Democrats have selected their theme music for their campaigns.
John Edwards: "This Is Our Country" by John Mellencamp.
Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut: "Get Ready (Cause Here I Come)" by the Temptations and "Reach Out," also by the Temptations.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York: "Right Here, Right Now," by Jesus Jones and "Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" by Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio: "America the Beautiful"
Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois decided against using any music in keeping with the somber tone he sought to convey.
Wesley Clark, who hasn't indicated whether he will run, entered to Johnny Cash's "I Won't Back Down."
Alright, alright... if I can speak out here.
Edwards. Can't you get original here? This song has been worked to death. What are you doing -- promoting Chevy Silverados? Like a rock, ehh?
Dodd. Okay if you are gonna have two songs, at least have two artists like Hillary. But this is good because when I think of Connecticut's Dodd -- I definitely think of Motown.
Clinton. Where to start? Jesus Jones and Bachman-Turner Overdrive? I guess you are trying to bridge generations here? But, umm, at least the other guys had American singers. Is there a message here -- that American singers couldn't make the cut and British and Canadian rockers are cooler? Maybe it is because you want a Canadian-style health care system and the Brits are all about Kyoto. Keep bridging that gap... Grr Baby, Very Grr...
Kucinich. If your theme has anything to say about you, then you are the most patriotic candidate out of the bunch. That will show those evil conservatives! But I would make sure you can sing in key -- Hillary already got busted.
Obama. I respect not having a song. I guess that whole Ludacris thing backfired? But seriously, Obamamania needs a theme. I heard emo is the new thing with the kids.
Clark. Hello, I'm Wesley Clark. Yep, that works.
One thing is for sure -- all of this music will make for a sweet Democratic mix tape.
